Summary

The Vice President, Audience Strategy is a conscientious, collaborative, and—most importantly—curious member of the Edge Direct team. The VP will be responsible for developing integrated strategies for Edge Direct’s clients and collaborating with client teams to convert strategy into actionable marketing and fundraising plans that result in revenue growth and increased brand awareness for our clients. The successful candidate will be passionate about discovering insights and developing innovative ideas and be able to share rationale clearly and persuasively, as well as building core strategy discipline into how we work with clients.

The Vice President, Audience Strategy will join a team of talented and experienced fundraisers that focus on helping agency clients achieve their short- and long-term objectives through a deep understanding of the nonprofit fundraising sector, its supporters, and agency’s capabilities for online and offline fundraising and marketing, more specifically in areas such as direct mail, digital, email, DRTV, Mid-Level giving programs, and sustainer marketing.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manages team of direct reports and is responsible for providing direction, support, and coaching.
  • Serve as a key member of our client teams and will help lead strategic engagements to meet client’s business and strategic initiatives.
  • Lead clients through transformational growth by creating or enhancing solutions that are customized to the unique challenges of a dynamic market.
  • Develops and oversees the implementation of doner-centric marketing strategies and ensures full integration across digital and direct channels.
  • In conjunction with agency’s account leadership, be responsible for the overall performance of client fundraising goals and execution of strategic plan(s).
  • Owns the entire strategy lifecycle including identifying opportunities, driving conversations, creating frameworks, methodologies and long-term strategies and accountability for measurement and strategy enhancement.
  • Turns data into actionable insights beyond traditional fundraising tactics
  • Determines relevant segments and clusters of donors for targeted direct marketing strategies.
  • Manages performance of donor segments to expected revenue targets.
  • Designs and implements testing strategies to understand donor behavior including deeper understanding of device usage, creative and messaging preferences, and engagement drivers.
  • Works with the analytics team to interpret test results and determine future strategy.
  • Models various strategies and tactics to determine expected ROI and create forecasts for annual plan.
  • Help Lead monthly client strategy meeting — plan monthly agenda topics, prep work, own follow-up
  • Collaborate with our Integrated Direct Response team to refine donor journey frameworks, processes, tools, and own the deliverables.
  • In partnership with Account Leads, facilitate QBRs, setting strategic agenda, Annual Planning & Roadmap.
  • Build and maintain relationships with senior executives at the client and with key partners within the industry.
  • Partner with Account Leads to upsell Edge Direct and Moore solutions where appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to communicate with executive level personnel, both internally and externally.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple complex projects; a resourceful self-starter who will take initiative and follow through on projects.
  • Keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement programs through effective use of communication skills in formal and informal settings.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to synthesize and analyze data to identify trends and marketing opportunities.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to clearly articulate and implement a focused plan and to collaborate with teams.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience working with C-level executives with the ability to influence, work collaboratively, and gain consensus across a large organization.

Education and Experience:

  • Have a fully rounded knowledge of marketing and fundraising and a passion for working with mission-driven clients to achieve results.
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Direct reporting management experience; lead, coach, and mentor direct reports.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
